Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
The short version
- My MP has no accounts and no login.
- We do not run servers that store anything about you.
- Your postcode is stored on your device only. We never receive it.
- We do not sell data, show adverts, or build a profile of you.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
This policy explains what happens to information when you use the My MP iOS app. It is written to meet the requirements of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
1. Who we are
My MP is made by SVPPLY&.CO LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 11377371. For the purposes of data protection law, SVPPLY&.CO LIMITED is the data controller.
Registered office:
3rd Floor Great Titchfield House, 14–18 Great Titchfield Street,
London W1W 8BD, United Kingdom.
2. What information the app handles
Your postcode
When you enter a postcode, the app sends it to a postcode lookup service to find out which parliamentary constituency you are in. We then ask Parliament's public API which MP represents that constituency.
We never receive your postcode. We do not operate a server that could receive it. It goes directly from your device to the lookup service, and the result comes straight back to your device.
Your postcode is stored on your device only, so that you do not have to type it in every time. It is removed when you delete the app. You can clear it at any time by changing it or deleting the app.
A full UK postcode can identify a small number of households, so we treat it as personal data even though we never hold it.
Your device's internet address
When the app connects to the services listed below, those services can see your device's IP address, in the same way any website you visit can. We do not receive or record it. Each of those services has its own privacy policy.
Purchases
If you buy My MP+, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, payment card, or billing address. We receive only a confirmation from your device that a purchase exists, which is what unlocks the paid features.
What the app does not do
The app contains no analytics, no third-party crash reporting, and no software development kits belonging to anyone else. There is nothing in it that watches what you do.
If you have turned on Apple's own crash and analytics sharing in your device settings, Apple may send us anonymised crash reports through App Store Connect. These tell us that something failed and where in the code, not who you are or what you were looking at. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
- There is no account, sign-up or login.
- We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- We do not use advertising or advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell or share information with data brokers.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not build a profile of you or make automated decisions about you.
3. Services the app connects to
The app talks directly to these services from your device. We have no commercial relationship with any of them and receive nothing back from them about you.
| Service | What it is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| postcodes.io | Your postcode, your IP address | To find your constituency, council and ward |
| UK Parliament APIs (Members, Votes, Bills, Written Questions, Hansard) |
Your IP address, and the identifier of the MP you are viewing | To retrieve public records about that MP |
| Apple (App Store) | Purchase information, handled by Apple | To process and restore purchases |
All information about MPs shown in the app is already public. It is published by UK Parliament under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0.
4. Why we are allowed to do this
Under the UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for handling personal data. Ours is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): you have asked to find out who represents you, and looking up your postcode is the only way to answer that. We use the minimum needed and keep none of it.
Where you buy My MP+, the lawful basis is performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
5. How long anything is kept
- Your postcode
- Stored on your device only, until you change it or delete the app. Never held by us.
- Records shown in the app
- Held temporarily on your device so the app works while you use it. Removed when you delete the app.
- Purchase status
- Held by Apple, under Apple's own retention rules.
6. Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to restrict its use.
In practice, we hold no personal data about any user of the app, so there is usually nothing for us to give you or delete. If you contact us we will tell you that plainly, and explain why.
You can remove everything the app holds by deleting the app from your device.
7. How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to us directly. We take complaints seriously and have a procedure for handling them.
To complain, email contact@whoismymp.uk with "Data protection complaint" in the subject line. Tell us what happened and what you would like us to do.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome of our investigation.
If you are not satisfied with our response, or you would rather go straight to the regulator, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to the ICO will not cost you anything.
8. Children
My MP is a general audience app about public information. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone. It contains no advertising, no social features, no user accounts and no way for anyone to contact anyone else through the app.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
10. Contact us
For anything to do with privacy or your data, email contact@whoismymp.uk.
